FAQ FOR RECRUITERS

1. ARE YOU INTERESTED IN RELOCATION?

No, I prefer to work remotely or in a hybrid model.

2. WHAT KIND OF ROLES ARE YOU INTERESTED IN?

I am well-suited for both technical roles (Software Engineer since 2005) and leadership positions (8+ years of experience).

In general, I am passionate about concurrency and distributed systems.

3. WHAT FORM OF EMPLOYMENT DO YOU PREFER?

I am open to all types of employment arrangements; however, B2B has worked best for international contracts.

Taxes are also easy to manage:

  • I operate as a sole proprietor and can issue invoices to companies worldwide.
  • Poland has double taxation agreements with most countries, so I pay taxes only in Poland.
  • For U.S. contracts, I maintain a valid W-8BEN form and renew it every three years.

4. WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE?

  • It is negotiable, but I prefer working on a monthly salary basis.

5. ARE YOU AUTHORISED TO WORK IN THE EU, US?

  • EU: Yes — I was born in Poland
  • US: B2B (remote) only

6. WHAT SHOULD YOUR DREAM JOB LOOK LIKE?

I enjoy working with open-minded people who listen to each other and respect differing opinions. Ideally, I would like the opportunity to create something original, learn new things, and work with technologies I am passionate about.

I prefer minimal bureaucracy and flexible working hours.

7. WHAT DOESN’T INTEREST YOU?

I am not interested in environments with unclear direction, a lack of genuine purpose, or heavy micromanagement. However, if I have the opportunity to help improve these areas, I would be eager to take on the challenge and drive meaningful change.

8. WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH AI?

I use Copilot for initial code reviews of pull requests, log analysis, and scaffolding unit tests. I am generally not satisfied with code generated by AI models, so I prefer writing code myself without any AI assistance.

  • Cloud: Experience with GCP (since 2017) and AWS (since 2018), including CI/CD pipelines, autoscaling, and cost optimization.
  • Kubernetes: Deploying and managing microservices on Kubernetes clusters since 2017.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Helm and Ansible
  • Monitoring: worked with Sentry, AppSignal, DataDog, Splunk, New Relic, ElasticSearch, Jaeger but primarly Grafana and Prometheus

10. DO YOU MIND WORKING DIRECTLY WITH CLIENTS?

Not at all. I have extensive experience collaborating directly with clients and their technical teams.

11. ARE YOU OPEN TO LEARNING NEW LANGUAGES/FRAMEWORKS?

Absolutely. I am always eager to learn and enjoy exploring different approaches. I have proven my ability to quickly pick up new languages (e.g., Go, Elixir) and successfully secure roles using them.

I am comfortable working in the late afternoon and evening.

For reference, 3:00 PM (Poland) corresponds to:

  • 07:00 AM in Salt Lake City, Denver

I have worked with remote teams across five continents, and time zone differences have never been an issue.
